It is the largest wetland in Italy and the most attractive area within the park, with shallow waters divided by dune elevations where many ornithological species nest, including pink flamingos.

Fishing is much practiced in the Comacchio valleys, in fact we still find numerous camps. In addition, there are numerous salt pans where salt is produced.

Typical of the area are the casoni da pesca, huts made of poles, straw and marsh reeds.

These structures served as both fishing stations and lookout stations for surveillance against illegal fishing. From Pesca Foce, tours depart on foot or by boat to relive the atmosphere of yesteryear in the Casoni di Valle, which illustrate fishing activity, such as the lavoriero, a trap for catching eels.
